Quick Bites | Long term price changes, with goods down, services up

Over the last twenty years we’ve seen a significant rise in the price of hospital services, college tuition and fees, child and medical care. All of these areas rose significantly more than the overall pace of inflation.

On the other side, we saw the price of televisions, toys, computer software, and telephone services fall appreciably. The chart above is for the US, but the trend is mirrored in Australia – prices of services steadily rising while goods steadily fall.
